What Is Disha Alignment Score

The Disha Alignment Score is a number that tells you how well your property fits traditional directional guidelines. In India, the direction a building faces, called "Disha," is often considered important for design and layout. This score estimates the harmony between the entrance direction and the shape of your plot.

How Disha Alignment Score Is Calculated

Formula

Score = (Direction Weight × 0.7) + (Geometry Score × 0.3)

Where:

  • Direction Weight = Value based on facing (e.g., Northeast is high)
  • Geometry Score = Value based on plot length-to-width ratio

The calculation looks at two main parts. First, it checks the direction your door faces. Some directions, like Northeast or North, may carry higher weight in this system. Second, it checks the shape of your land using the length and width. A shape that is too long or too wide might lower the score. The final number blends these two factors to give you a general idea of alignment.

Why Disha Alignment Score Matters

Knowing your Disha score helps you understand the basic orientation of your property. It may help you plan rooms or entrances in a way that fits common traditional practices.

Why Correct Orientation Is Important for Planning

Ignoring the direction and shape of a plot may lead to layouts that get too much heat or too little light. A low score suggests the layout might need extra care to ensure comfort and good air flow.

For Residence (Home)

For a home, a higher score is often linked to having main living areas in cooler or brighter spots. This might help the house feel more comfortable during different seasons.

For Business (Office/Shop)

For a business, the entrance direction is often considered important for visibility and approach. A good score may suggest the location is standard for customer-facing activities.
