What Is Priority Score
A Priority Score is a number that helps you decide which task to do first. It looks at how important a task is and how much effort it takes. By giving you a clear number, it removes the guesswork from planning your day. This score helps you focus on tasks that bring the most value while considering the time they take.
How Priority Score Is Calculated
Formula
Priority Score = (Urgency × Importance × Impact) / Effort
Where:
- Urgency = How soon the task must be completed (1–10)
- Importance = Significance of the task outcome (1–10)
- Impact = Potential benefit of task completion (1–10)
- Effort = Estimated work required to complete the task (1–10)
This formula multiplies the positive factors—Urgency, Importance, and Impact—to find the total value of a task. Then, it divides that value by the Effort needed. This means tasks that are quick to finish but very important get a higher score. Hard tasks that do not matter much get a lower score. This helps you find tasks that give you the best results for your work.
Why Priority Score Matters
Knowing your Priority Score helps you manage your time better. It stops you from spending too much time on small tasks that do not help you reach your goals.
Why Prioritization Is Important for Productivity
If you do not prioritize, you might spend all day on busy work and miss important deadlines. This can lead to stress and lower quality work. Using a score helps you see which tasks truly matter. This way, you can focus your energy on work that has the biggest positive effect.
