What Is Monthly Attendance Percentage

Monthly Attendance Percentage is a number that shows how much of the month you attended out of all your scheduled days or classes. For example, if you had 22 classes in a month and went to 20 of them, your attendance percentage tells you how well you kept up. Schools, colleges, and offices in India often use this number to check if a student or employee meets the required attendance limit.

How Monthly Attendance Percentage Is Calculated

Formula

Attendance Percentage = (Days/Classes Attended / Total Scheduled Days/Classes) x 100

Where:

  • A = Days/Classes Attended (count)
  • T = Total Scheduled Days/Classes (count)
  • Attendance % = Attendance percentage (% rounded to 2 decimal places)

The formula works by dividing the number of days you attended by the total number of days you were supposed to attend. This gives you a small decimal number. Then you multiply that number by 100 to turn it into a percentage. For example, if you attended 20 out of 22 days, you divide 20 by 22 to get 0.9091, and then multiply by 100 to get 90.91%. The higher the percentage, the more days you were present.

Why Monthly Attendance Percentage Matters

Knowing your monthly attendance percentage helps you see if you are on track with your attendance goals. Many schools and colleges in India require a minimum of 75% attendance to be allowed to take exams. This number helps you check where you stand before it is too late.

Why Tracking Attendance Is Important for Meeting Eligibility Criteria

If you do not keep track of your attendance, you may fall below the required limit without realizing it. Many students in India find out too late that they do not have enough attendance to sit for their exams. Checking your percentage each month may help you avoid this problem and plan ahead if you need to make up for missed days.

For Students

Students in schools and colleges may need to maintain at least 75% attendance as per many Indian university rules. If your percentage is below this, you may consider attending extra classes or making up for absences. A monthly check helps you stay aware and take action early in the semester.

For Employees

Employees may use this to track their monthly work attendance for salary, leave, or appraisal records. In many Indian workplaces, attendance is linked to pay and leave benefits. Keeping a monthly record may help you make sure your records match what your company shows.

Monthly Attendance Percentage vs Absence Percentage

Attendance percentage and absence percentage are two sides of the same coin. Attendance percentage tells you how much you attended, while absence percentage tells you how much you missed. They always add up to 100%. People sometimes confuse the two and focus only on how much they missed. It may be more useful to look at the attendance percentage because it directly shows if you meet the required limit.
